Peace through Tourism FAQ’s
1. Is this a political movement? No, Peace through Tourism is strictly non-political and non-partisan. We focus on universal values like mutual respect, understanding, connection and cultural bridge-building that transcend political boundaries. Our mission is about fostering peace through travel, not advancing any political agenda.
2. Will this messaging resonate with my customers? Research shows that a rapidly growing number of travelers (example: 73% of millennials/Gen Z) are actively seeking meaningful travel experiences. Our initiative focuses on the principal of Travel with “CARE” - illuminating Destination Curiosity, creating cultural Awareness, enhancing environmental Respect, and encouraging authentic Engagement—values that rather add to rather than detract from the travel experience.
3. Can this initiative help my business competitively? Peace-focused programming can be a huge brand differentiator in an increasingly crowded market. It not only appeals to the growing socially conscious traveler, but also positions your company as an industry leader in meaningful travel experiences.
4. What does it cost to be an Industry Partner for Peace? There are no membership fees, dues, or financial obligations. The only request is for to promote awareness of Peace Through Tourism throughout your existing channels, and where possible to explore opportunities to add peace-building elements in your tourism operation. Once we are connected, we can help you with any approach you are ready to take.
5. How much time will this require from my staff? As little or as much time as you choose. At a minimum we simply ask you to support Peace through Tourism by displaying our logo on your website and marketing materials. Most peace-building elements integrate seamlessly into existing operations. For example, a Trip Leader can plan and/or a tour guides can incorporate a few minutes of cultural awareness messaging each day. We provide ready-to-use marketing materials and resources to minimize additional workload.
6. What support and resources do Industry partners receive? Community Partners get access to: a our marketing toolkit with ready-to-use content, staff training materials, best practices library with case studies, digital peace badges for recognition, and networking opportunities with like-minded tourism professionals.
7. What happens after 2025 when the UN Year of Peace ends? While 2025 is our launch year, peace-building through tourism is a long-term movement. Working together, we will continue promoting these principles beyond 2025, as the need for cultural understanding and global citizenship through travel is ongoing.
