Make Peace Part of the Journey

Intentional and meaningful travel illuminates the core principles that help foster Peace

Making Peace Part of the Journey is an intentional action that can occur whether you are the Trip Organizer, Travel Planner, Tour Director, the Destination Resource or Traveler.

It is possible to make peace part of a journey by promoting and incorporating 4-Peacebuilding (CARE) principles into your travel program, including the value of Curiosity - when we learn something new; the value of Awareness - when we try something new; the value of Respect - when we visit a new culture & environment; and the value of Engagement - when we meet someone new; Every journey provides the opportunity to broaden perspectives and influence future outlooks.

A Journey 4-Peace

The following are 4 simple intentional and meaningful peacebuilding (CARE) principles which can be incorporated into every traveler’s journey.

Destination
Curiosity

Learn something new
Encourage travelers to be curious about the history, geography and culture of the place(s) visiting. By recognizing and embracing the uniqueness of a destination, you help value & celebrate it and it’s people, fostering understanding & peace building

Culture
Awareness

Try something new
Each destination has a diverse culture that contributes to its uniqueness. Encourage traveler’s to experience something they have never tried – a new cuisine, new music, new sights new perspectives. Having an understanding and an open mind builds empathy & appreciation.

People
Engagement

Meet someone new
Building new connections is at the heart of peace building. Taking time to interact with, listen to and embrace different perspectives from people along the way can be impactful for all involved. New connections transforms us into better Global Citizens

Environment
Respect

Support someplace new
Make positive choices about the natural, cultural & historical environments you visit. Each destination has public assets to be valued & safeguarded. Encourage traveler’s to take time to appreciate places, reduce their footprint and leave each place visited better than they found them.
